Great Race 2016 Day 5

Sorry I missed yesterday's post.

Up to date,  we have 5 Aces. A mix of other scores. That puts us in the middle of the pack.

Today we saw beautiful scenery. We went over one mountain pass at almost 11000 feet. The car made it. Many did not.

Tomorrow we are off to Mount Rushmore and dinner in Rapid City with Miss Morgan  Lucot.

Pretty good day today. We seemed to get our MOJO back. We got an Ace on the first leg. The rest were in the single digits.

The scenery was beautiful. The mountains around Lake Tahoe are breath taking.  Still lots of snow on the peaks.

My sister and her husband met us for dinner. What a treat!

The June Bug soldiers on. She is one tough little car.

Tomorrow we go closer to home.

Great Race 2016 Day 1

We made the run from San Rafael to Sacramento. Our individual leg scores were sort of a yin and yang. Real good to not so good at all. Overall results put us a ways down the score board. But hey, we are laughing and seeing some great sites. The car is running good and comes back for more.

Tomorrow we are off to Reno. My sister and her husband are meeting us there. So nice of them to do so.

Trophy Run

The Trophy Run was Thursday. Well, no trophies for Team June Bug. We didn't have our best day. The roads were rough and it was hard for us to get in sync.

We have had beautiful weather in the bay area. In the 70s and sunny all the time. The sights are remarkable.

Off to Sacramento on Saturday after the big send off from downtown San Rafael.

Just a few days to go

It's the Saturday before team June Bug heads west. I am fussing around packing and rethinking what we need to do. Dave has been hard at work analyzing last year's results. I am impressed by his insights. We got a taste of being competitive last year and we want to have respectable results this year if we can.

We are anxious to see the Great Race gang.

California here we come.

Great Race 2016 Here we come

The 2016 Great Race is coming up fast.  Team June Bug is about as ready as we are going to get.  This year we added disc brakes in the front to help us out.  They sure have made a difference in the calibration runs and the practice. It was a bit tricky to get the Timewise speedometer reconfigured.  Luckily, an ace mechanic came to my aid and everything seems to working very well.  Dave and I completed out last practice yesterday.

Reliable Carriers should be picking up the car this coming week.  The rest of the team follows a few days later.  We can't wait to see our Great Race friends.
